Eating Myths
Myth No. 1. Calories are always calories
Some people still think that all calorific food is the same whether it is junk food or home-made dishes. The National Institute of Health has conducted research which proved that ready-made, convenience and processed food with a high amount of carbs increases the risk of putting on extra weight.
Myth No. 2. Superfoods are real
Looking for "magic food" has become an obsession. Bloggers, marketers of organic shops, and nutritionists keep saying that superfoods are the only way to be healthy. That's true that cocoa helps the cells to stay healthy, blueberries help to protect the memory, but the idea that only a very narrow range of superfoods can make our health better doesn't seem to be real. Besides, we need to take into consideration that these results were obtained on animals and not on people: plenty of tests are held in the laboratories on rodents and reptiles fed with enormous amounts of such food.
Myth No. 3. Detox is a really good thing
Some people claim that a human's body is not able to detox itself. But this is a huge mistake which can cause using some products too much; the products which can disrupt intestinal microflora and digestive system. Obsessive eating of charcoal or anything else can destroy many useful bacteria and wash away minerals like magnesium or potassium and calcium, which are the key parts of cell metabolism.
Myth No. 4. Eating three times is a key to succeed
One of the most popular modern practices is intermittent fasting which excludes one or two meals during the day. It's hard to believe, but recent researches have proved the effectiveness of such a diet. Short fasting helps to keep cells healthy and prevent inflammatory processes. For example, limiting the meals for 10 hours helps people with obesity to lose some weight. But, of course, before going on a diet one should consult with the doctor.
Myth No. 5. High concentration of fats is useful
Lately, various high fat and low-carbohydrate diets have become popular. But such extreme dieting is not available for many: diabetics, pregnant women, and people with some diseases. Besides, almost all nutrition experts agree that vegetable fat contained in olive oil or avocado is more preferable than the one contained in meat, cow's milk or butter.
