Scotland is located in the Northern part of the United Kingdom, although it was once a separate state. It is the second largest administrative part of the UK, but it has the lowest population density. Most of the population of Scotland lives in large cities. The biggest of them are Glasgow and Edinburgh. The country has its own Parliament, religion and education system.

Scotland is usually presented as a freedom-loving land of brave and wild highlanders who wear the characteristic plaid skirts. There are wild and inaccessible mountains, deep lakes, medieval castles, and, of course, the Loch Ness monster. Beautiful landscapes, ancient monuments, rich history and a temperate maritime climate make Scotland attractive for tourists.

Picturesque Scottish lands are one of the few places that all film directors of the world love. And this is not surprising. After all, moorland and gloomy fairy-tale castles, flocks of sheep and rugged mountains — all this brings to mind amazing sceneries where brave warriors and valiant heroes fought in liberation wars.

Lots of things in Scotland bear traces of bygone times: the old way of life and customs which can still be found in the North of the country. In the North of Scotland live the Gaels who are the descendants of the Celts. They retained their language — Gaelic, one of the few living Celtic languages.

Scotland is a country that is beautiful at any time of the year. And do not worry if you cannot manage to go on holiday in the summer. You will never regret if you take a holiday in winter and choose tours to Scotland. Even cloudy weather will not spoil your holiday. For instance, in December, life here does not stop for a minute, and the approach of the Christmas holidays and the New Year is felt here at every step. Scotland's cities sparkle with lights and invite everyone to ice rinks and Christmas markets. Edinburgh is home to the most famous fair — Christmas' capital and the UK's largest outdoor ice rink in the gardens on Princess street. If your tour will be at the end of December, then you will definitely get to the celebration of Hogmanay. That is how the Scots call the celebration of the end of the year. Come and see it all with your own eyes! You will never forget this trip and most importantly — you will never regret it.
