Обратите внимание на различие грамматических значений структур be/get used to doing — used to do — would do — would have done — would not:
— be / get used + V-ing выражает привыкание к чему-то в прошлом: I was used to living in Thailand even though local climate was not very good for me;
— used to обозначает привычное действие или отношение в прошлом без продолжения в настоящем времени: My brother used to watch a lot of TV before school but now he is on for using the computer;
— would do передаёт повторявшиеся действия в прошлом без продолжения в настоящем времени: When I was a child, I would go fi shing with my grandfather and we would sit by the river for hours;
— would not передаёт упорное сопротивление чьим-то действиям: I tried to talk the problem through but my friend would not listen to me;
— would have done используется для сообщения о несостоявшемся действии в прошлом в связи с нереальностью условий: I would have become a pilot if I could.
Примечание: выражения will (not) have done, will (not) have been done, would (not) have done, would (not) have been done могут выражать предполагаемое прошлое (assumed past), когда говорящий предполагает, что событие могло или не могло произойти в прошлом: I guess they will not have even dreamt of winning that game last year.
