Mike: Morning, Jane. What are you [ ]?

Jane: Hey, Mike! Nice to see you here. I've just received an important email. It says I've won a grant and [ ] a surfing summer school for free!

Mike: Oh my! That sounds amazing! Congratulations!

Jane: Thank you! I still can't believe it's true.

Mike: How did you do that? I mean, the grant. Was there a competition or something?

Jane: Oh yes, there was one last week. I [ ] accidentally on the website extremesportsgrants.com. First, it was required to fill in a form, you know, just some information about each candidate. Next step was to upload a 10-minute video [ ] in surfing. And, finally, a motivation letter, describing why this particular candidate should be chosen.

Mike: Wow, that's a little bit complicated … Did you have a nice video?

Jane: Nope, I wouldn't say so! Actually, I'd rather say it was quite bad, because in the video I [ ] my surfing board twice ... On the other hand, it showed how big my desire to learn was.

Mike: I guess this is what really [ ]. If a person really wants to master something, they will do anything that's needed and succeed.

Jane: Totally agree. I expressed this thought in my letter. Probably that's the reason they chose me.

Mike: I'm sure you deserve it! And you'll become [ ] one day!

Jane: I hope so! Thank you for believing in me.

Mike: Don't mention it. That's what friends are needed for!

Jane: Yeah, you're right. By the way, how is your preparation going? I heard you're going [ ] in the swimming competition on Friday.

Mike: Did you mean the one on Saturday?

Jane: Oh, of course. Sorry, I mixed it all up. How is your preparation for the competition on Saturday?

Mike: Not as good as I expected. I thought I'd have more [ ], but in fact I had just a little time.

Jane: Why so? Did anything happen?

Mike: Not really, everything is alright. I just had a couple of urgent projects at college, so I spent a lot of time doing them. That's why I had to decrease my training time. However, my muscles feel better now. Maybe some rest was needed.
