The Lord Mayor's Show
[ ] Colourful floats and the magnificent 250-year-old state coach are prepared for the procession. People book the Grandstand seats at St Paul's Cathedral, as this is where you can get the best view of the show. The tickets sell out fast.
[ ] The whole procession is about four kilometres long. It is one of the greatest parades in the world. It makes people feel happy and proud of their history and traditions.
[ ] The Lord Mayor's Show is one of London's most famous annual events. The Lord Mayor is the head of the City of London. On the second Saturday in November, a special public parade takes place to celebrate the importance of the Lord Mayor's office.
[ ] The parade starts in the City of London at 11 a.m. The Lord Mayor travels in his gold coach pulled by six horses. There are carriages, brightly coloured floats, marching soldiers, musical bands and old cars in the procession. People blow whistles, wave flags and cheer. At about 5 p.m. there is a spectacular firework display from a barge on the River Thames.
