In the Republic of Karelia, a new federal protected area will be established: Vottovaara National Park. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the decree to create this reserve.

The new national park will cover three separate natural clusters: the Ahvi, Varguno, and Piro mountains; Lake Pizanec, and Mount Vottovaara. The total area of these territories, located in the remote **** Muezersky and Medvezhyegorsky districts, is over 14,000 hectares.

Creating this national park will help protect the habitat**,** including the unique pre-tundra and forest-tundra landscapes. It will also offer new opportunities to study Lake Pizanez, which is unique for its oxygen levels and beautiful landscape.

This initiative is part of the federal project "Preservation of Biological Diversity and Development of Ecotourism", included in the Ecology national project. It aims to reduce soil pollution and support endangered species.
