Useless advice
Once there was a very big tree in the jungle, where many birds had their nests. They all were happy and always helped one another. They began to repair their nests before the rainy season. And most of the animals in the jungle repaired their homes, too.
The birds brought different twigs and leaves and many other small things to make their nests better, warmer and safer. The birds also knew that it was necessary to collect food and save it for their children. Soon they had enough food to eat in the rainy season. It began to rain at the usual time. There were thunderstorms and lightning, and strong winds. All the animals stayed in their homes.
It rained for many days. Once a wet monkey came up to the tree and climbed it. The monkey wanted a warm place.
The poor monkey tried to find some place to hide but could not find anything. Leaves were not big enough to protect it from the rain.
The birds saw the monkey and felt sorry for the poor animal. But they could not do anything for it. One of the birds said, “Monkey! Our nests are very small, and we cannot save you from the rain.” Another bird said, “We all prepared for the rainy season. But you didn’t think about it when you had time to build a house for yourself.” The monkey became angry. “Are you teaching me?” it shouted at the tiny birds. It jumped to one of the nests, took it and threw it on the ground. The nest was ruined. The bird and its babies were helpless. It thought, “Fools do not need good advice. It is better to keep your mouth close.”
