Subject: Public holidays
...On the 11th of November my family and I took part in Veterans Day on the main square of our city. It is a federal holiday when we honour military veterans who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. We were observing a parade and a fireworks display after that.
Do you have any holidays of that kind in your country? When do you celebrate them? What do you usually do on that day?
By the way, yesterday was my first day in a new school...

Dear [Mary|Tony|Mr Brown],
Thank you [about|for|after]your letter. It was nice to hear from you again.
I'm glad to [hear|listen|look]that you witnessed a patriotic parade in your city. I am sure you are proud of those brave people of your country. In my country we have an [necessary|important|new]patriotic holiday, the Victory Day which is celebrated [in|on|at]the 9th of May. That day we honour the people who died during the [Wonderful|Great|Amazing]Patriotic War of 1941–1945. We have parades in every place of our country. Every year there is a great military parade in Moscow which is broadcast worldwide. My family and I go to see the parade and always take [place|part|piece]in a special movement called Immortal March when thousands of people go into the streets of their towns and cities with portraits of their relatives who died [after|during|on]the war. The idea is to [play|pay|sell]tribute to the memory of those who had sacrificed their lives for us. I always [hold|carry|pass]a portrait of my great grandfather.
[It's great|In my opinion|Well]you went to a new school yesterday. Is your new school situated near the place where you live? How many floors are there in your school? Does it have a stadium nearby?
[Sorry|Excuse|Thanks], I've got to go now. My mum [is calling|is talking|is speaking]for me to help her in the kitchen. Hope to hear from you [soon|after|next].
[Yours sincerely|Hi there|Best wishes],
