People always wanted to communicate with each other. They used available means for this purpose. At some historical point it was cave drawing or scratching on clay boards. Now we have computers in our pockets. Now you spend just a few seconds to send a message or audio and you can do it from anywhere in the world.

A new means of communication, smartphone, changes the culture of communication as well. Earlier it was clear that we communicate about work only during the working hours in the office. Now we are available almost at any time of the day. It's important not to forget about private time and space of your communicative partner. Even if we speak about personal messages, it's important to remember that a person can be busy or can be in a place that is not appropriate for communication. Don't get offended if you don't receive an immediate answer.

When we wrote letters to each other, it was polite to say hello and goodbye, but when you communicate many times during the day, this necessity disappears. You can't start each message, saying "hello" if you write to a person several times per hour. We still need to be polite and not to forget to show our positive attitude with the words we use.

It's very difficult to understand with what intonation this or that phrase is written, so messengers bring miscommunication sometimes. Feel free to clarify what a person meant to be sure that you understood him or her correctly.

Not only young people communicate via the Internet and messengers. The nervous system of young people is more adaptive to this way of communication, though. People over 35 can be annoyed by a beeping sound of their messenger and prefer longer and more informative messages instead of short and frequent ones. So you need to take a partner's age into account when you send a message.

No matter what excellent new opportunities the Internet opens for us in education and work, don't forget to communicate with your friends and parents in real life! Real communication when you laugh together and look into the eyes can't be replaced by a screen.
