How can we cope with stress? There are different ways to do it.

Firstly, physical activity. It can be any sport—football, tennis, basketball or just gymnastics. Another idea is to gather together with your friends at the gym. Exercise burns off the "stress hormone" cortisol, that is why exercise can help the body relax. But remember that you should not exceed the limits. Your physical activity should be moderate.

Secondly, there are some innovative techniques such as yoga, meditation or aerobics. They can help you increase blood flow in your body, raise the level of oxygen and relieve the tension in muscles.

Thirdly, a healthy diet. Remember: you are what you eat. Healthy diet consists of plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, lean meat, dairy foods and wholegrains. It equips your body with all the needed minerals and vitamins and makes hormones of happiness, or endorphins, rise. Junk food is not an option. It lacks beneficial elements, and it may cause problems with weight and skin. Here comes good sleep also. A lot of teenagers suffer from insomnia, yet they have to sleep for 8–10 hours. During sleeping, your body gains the energy, and your thoughts that bothered and made you nervous during the day disappear.

Except such physiological issues, the nature of stress is purely social as well. Teach yourself to love yourself, boost your self-esteem. We do not encourage you to become arrogant and look down on other people but rather to praise yourself even for small deeds. Smile to yourself, be kind to yourself and do not try to underestimate your skills or appearance.

Finally, do not be afraid to reach out to your friends, parents or relatives. They are not monsters or something. They are capable of listening to you, comforting you or even finding a solution to your problem!
