General information

Bhutan is officially known as the Kingdom of Bhutan. This is a landlocked country. It has common borders with China in the north and India in the south. Its population is over 754,000 people. The territory covers about 34,000 square kilometers. Bhutan is a constitutional monarchy.

History

There is archeological evidence that Bhutan was inhabited in early 2000 B.C. Unfortunately, much of Bhutanese history is not clearly known. It happened because most of the historical records were destroyed by fire in the ancient capital in 1827.

Climate

Bhutan's climate changes from subtropical in the south to moderate in the highlands and polar-type climate in the north. There are five distinct climate seasons: summer, monsoon, autumn, winter and spring.

Economy
