Rule: There Is and There Are
There Is and There Are
We use "there is" and "there are" when we want to say about an object in some place.
If we talk about one thing and its place, we use there is a/an:
There is achair in the kitchen.
There is anarmchair in the living room.
If we describe more than two things and their place, we use there are + quantity (2, 6, 10, etc.) or "some":
There are fivebooks on the shelf.
There are someapples on the table.
A glass, A chair, An armchair, A plate, A bed, A mirror, Two curtains, Some computers, Three lamps, Some cupboards
