Past Simple
Past Simple — простое прошедшее время, которое употребляется для выражения действий, произошедших в прошлом, с указанием времени действия (yesterday, a week/month/year ago, last week/month/year, in 1986, the other day).

Чтобы образовать прошедшее время правильных глаголов, к начальной форме глагола добавляется окончание -ed.

Example:open — opened, finish — finished.

Неправильные глаголы в прошедшем времени полностью изменяют свою форму, например, путём изменения корневой гласной. Форму прошедшего времени неправильных глаголов нужно выучить.

Example:see — saw, come — came.

Отрицательные и вопросительные предложения образуются с помощью did / did not (didn't) и основной формы смыслового глагола.

Example:Did you go to the party?
