Every year around two and a half million people flock to watch the amazing Notting Hill Carnival. It's known as the biggest European free street[party|festival|ceremony|coronation]. Everyone can take part in it. The British West Indian community has been holding it since 1965. The festival became a symbol of a connection between white and black British culture. The mission is to reduce racial attacks and to join all nations and communities in one place. It's a great chance to watch the colourful carnival[meeting|party|procession|performance], listen to live street music, learn different dancing[actions|styles|genres|composition]from salsa to reggae and taste Mediterranean food. There are around 240 food[shops|markets|stalls|caravans]selling things like curried goat, roti and jerk chicken. The participants are using mud and paint to create colourful dust in their dance. Carnival lasts for 2 days and at the end of the second day the visitors may look at [firefighters|firelamps|firestars|fireworks]in the sky and watch a night performance.
