I saw Helen the other day, and she was very sad. I asked her what'd happened, and she told me her story. She explained [that she was going to have|having|to have|her to have] a gap year travelling in Europe after school. She preferred [to see|seeing|that she saw|saw] the world before entering the university because she thought that could help her to develop some skills and get new knowledge. She begged her parents[to let|that let|let|letting] her go to Europe, but, unfortunately, they refused. She even promised them[not to have|not having|that she didn't have|she would not have] any Bs in her exams but it didn't help. When I saw her, she was really disappointed, and I didn't know how to comfort her. I advised [to let it|letting it|her to let it|that it let] go and try to focus on her studies. Also, I supposed that her parents could change their mind in the future.
