I was brought up in a family who cherished traditions and [warm|close|clear|huge] relationships. We had quite a big family: my two elder brothers, our parents, grandparents from both sides. We'd been always living close and celebrating all the occasions together.

However, I couldn't help but notice that our family life was changing. After my brothers had entered the universities and I'd enrolled at a boarding school, we started to spend [least|more|less|few] time together. And the strangest thing was that I didn't feel the need to. Maybe, I was under the influence of my new friends. Or the workload at school was pretty heavy. My parents would [complain|upset|terrorise|suggest] that I didn't call or send any texts. They were simply missing me and the way things had been before. They loved me so much and were not ready to let go. But I was too [caring|determined|ignorant|thoughtful] to realise that. I wouldn't show up for family occasions or would leave them earlier than planned on holidays. [Lastly|Eventually|Accordingly|Finally], all that we had left was a phone call once or twice a month.

Years went by, I got married and settled down in the countryside with my wife and kids. Before we knew it, we started to create our family traditions. My wife would make delicious apple pies on Sundays. Every Thursday we would have a game night. I was the happiest man alive.

That was the time when I finally realised what it felt like to be a [cherish|supportive|single|caring] parent. I would mess around with my boys on a sunny day and secretly fear that one day we could just grow apart. The very idea of not being around my children was [surprisingly|deeply|additionally|lastly] hurtful. There were no words to express how sorry I was to cause all that pain and worry to my parents.
