based on p.5, ex.2 Listen and mark the sentences below as True or False School Uniform Many British schools have school uniforms. Some people think this is a good idea because you do not wear out your own clothes. Then, some families don't have much money and some families are rich. If pupils wear uniforms, you cannot say anything about their family budget. Uniforms also help you to save time. You don't have to think what clothes to put on in the mornings! I am all for uniforms. But school uniforms don't often look smart and fashionable. I think they should be more comfortable. I don't see what's wrong with wearing jeans. But pupils usually have to wear grey or black trousers or skirts of the same colour and white shirts or blouses. White things become dirty easily, and we have to wash them. I hate doing it. And I don't like grey and black either. Sometimes I dream about an ideal uniform. What can it be like? I am all for jeans. They're unisex, they are fashionable, they can be black, green, blue, brown, grey. They are very comfortable, and you can wear jeans in winter and in summer. I don't think that skirts are comfortable and it is really difficult to keep them in good shape. As for blouses, in my opinion, they shouldn't be only white. What's wrong with light blue or beige blouses? In winter jumpers will be good and in summer T-shirts instead of blouses. Maybe in the summer we can all wear shorts. But some of my friends are against school uniforms. They think there should be no school uniform at all, and pupils should wear whatever they like. They are sure that pupils will soon learn which clothes are good for school and which are not. My best friend says that everybody has to form their own individual dress sense, but you can't do it if for most of the day you and all your classmates wear uniforms which are exactly alike. And I think there is something in what she says. All schools in Britain have school uniforms. The speaker is for school uniforms. A uniform saves time because in the morning you don't have to think what to put on. The speaker doesn't like the colour of school uniforms. Pupils in Britain usually have to wear green or blue trousers when they are at school. The speaker thinks shorts are the best clothes for a school uniform. In the speaker's view, T-shirts and shorts are good for summer. The speaker's friend thinks that everybody has to form their own individual dress sense.
