An apostrophe is a special punctuation mark which has three basic functions.
An apostrophe is used to replace missing letters in contractions (short forms).

An apostrophe is used to indicate the possessive case of nouns.
Mysister'swedding was on July 11, 2019.
Myparents' bedroom is on the second floor.
An apostrophe is also used when we speak about the time.
