Answer the questions
With the help of the globe, you can get a complete picture of the Earth and find out how the continents and oceans are located in relation to each other.
The ancient Greek philosopher Crates of Mallus can be called the "father" of the globe. He possessed such an out-of-the-box thinking that his contemporaries were surprised by his ideas. According to the myth, he created the globe in order to depict the journey of Odysseus. But the globe he created did not survive.
The whole world knows a model that was made later on. This version was created in 1492. It is also known for the fact that it did not have the lands that were discovered by the famous travelers Magellan and Columbus a little later: neither America nor Australia. The invention of the first globe is credited to the famous German traveler, geographer Martin Behaim. Perhaps he based his creation on the journey of Marco Polo and some fantastic stories of that time. But it is still believed that the first globe was an amazing toy rather than a tool for studying the planet.
