In this country, this is a very important holiday. On this day, a lot of families gather together, and everyone should come together to 'bring in the bells'. Another phrase 'bringing in the bells' refers to the ten-second countdown to midnight where bells chime all over the country to signify the beginning of the New Year. Most towns have local celebrations with fireworks and family gatherings, but other events take place in the bigger Scottish cities.

This is an official day that is decided by the government when banks, shops, and offices close for the day, and a lot of people have a day off work. But in Colombia such days are different. They are called ‘festivos’. There are twenty festivos for the whole country in one year! Most of the festivos exist for religious reasons, but there are some days that are national holidays for historic reasons.

This holiday takes place at the beginning of spring. It is a celebration of good winning over evil, and a moment to give thanks for the good harvest. What do people usually do on this day? They go outside and throw coloured paint powder at each other. It does not matter if you are rich, poor, old, or young — everyone can throw paint and everyone can get messy! It's the right time to forgive people and repair broken relationships, as well as meet new friends people, play, and have fun.

This celebration is one of the most popular events in Corsica. It takes place in the Place Saint-Nicolas in Bastia’s city centre, and more than 50,000 chocolate lovers visit it every year. There are many different exhibitions with sweets and candies. There are even sculptures from chocolate! Amazing!
