A.Buckland Abbey in Dartmoor was originally built as a monastery, but disbanded by King Henry VIII. The Abbey was purchased by Sir Francis Drake in 1581. It is believed that many of the locals were afraid of Drake, and thought that he had made a deal with the Devil. Drake's ghost is believed to haunt Buckland Abbey, and is doomed to ride across Dartmoor in a black coach that is driven by headless horses, led by chattering goblins.

B. There is a belief, which is widely held in some regions of Switzerland, that on the First Christmas animals were given the power to speak. A tradition then developed that the miracle is repeated each year at midnight on Christmas Eve, in gratitude for the service given by the animals surrounding the Christkind (Christ Child). Farm animals are given an extra portion of hay or grain on Christmas Eve, so no one will accidentally overhear the animals speaking and thus invite a year of bad luck.

C. In 2013, the Mediterranean diet of Spain was inscribed on UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage and Humanity. Some of the strongholds of the Mediterranean diet in Spain include using few ingredients to make flavourful dishes, eating many small dishes with an emphasis on sharing, and viewing food as a social ritual. The greatest example of food being used socially would be tapas culture. One of the best places to experience tapas culture is Seville.

D. There are certain things you just can't imagine having another name, and the Colosseum is one of them. Believe it or not, Italy's icon was originally called the Flavian Amphitheater. This not-so-catchy-name (it wouldn't look as good on a fridge magnet) comes from the all-powerful Flavian dynasty who ruled the empire from 69 AD to 96 AD. Many historians believe the current name originates from "The Colossus of Nero", a 35-meter tall bronze statue that stood outside the amphitheater.

E.Because summer falls during Christmastime in New Zealand, a number of their traditions centre around a barbecue, or grill, where families and friends gather for a casual cookout of fresh seafood, meat, and seasonal vegetables. The New Zealand Christmas tree is the Pohutukawa, a coastal tree that blooms a bright-red colour in December, providing shade during the sunny days as people sing carols in both English and Maori.

F.Most people spend a lot of time planning weddings and holidays, but never plan how to live their lives. Solitude can give you a chance to ensure there's a purpose to all of your hustling and bustling. A quiet place allows you to think about your goals, your progress, and the changes you want to make in your life. Being alone can be very productive for your future success. When you know where you are going and why you are going there, you will achieve your goals with more perseverance.

G.Because the dark web is anonymous and encrypted, it is unsurprisingly an epicenter of criminal activity. On dark web marketplaces, there are sites to buy drugs, guns, exotic animals, credit card numbers, and more — complete with photos, user descriptions, and reviews. There are also hate sites, conspiracy theory forums, and how-to tutorials for every illegal activity imaginable.
