Nowadays, India is the seventh-largest country in the world. Surprisingly, it's going to catch up with China as for the population is concerned. China is the most populated country in the world. However, India is in second place. Any tourist who wants to visit India should take an umbrella as it's the wettest country, too. The season of rains might last for half of the year.
B.
Hindi is the fourth most spoken language in the world. Even no, in India people speak more than 400 languages and 2000 dialects. There are two official languages – English and Hindi but the government made a list of 22 languages that can be used for diplomatic purposes. India has its own God-language – Sanskrit.
C.
Bengal Tiger is a symbol of India. This beautiful fearless animal stayed on the brink of extinction for a long time. Fortunately, the number of tigers is increasing every year. They live in various habitats and can adapt to any weather conditions. There are many threats to Bengal Tigers, but a human being is the main one.
D.
People all over the world play chess but a few know that this entertaining game was invented by the Indians in the 6th Century AD. It was called chaturanga which means «having four parts» or «army». The board had 100 squares and the pieces moved almost as now. Archaeologists still find some clues from the ancient board games.
E.
The weirdest tradition which can't be understood by most European countries is the tradition to eat food with fingers. The Indians claim that it is the most enjoyable way to try their national cuisine. A piece of advice – if you're a tourist in India, be careful and pay attention to how local people eat dishes, and there isn't a problem at all.
F.
Have you heard about The Taj Mahal? Certainly, you want to visit it one day. Unfortunately, environmental problems such as air pollution led to irreversible changes. The impressive white walls of the palace are becoming yellow. The darkening of the walls is one of the consequences people face due to fumes, acid rains and dust.
