If you want to reduce energy consumption, you need to follow some tips.
First, you should change ordinary bulbs to LEDs. It won't be too expensive, but it can save energy at home. Second, you can use cold water for laundry. Try to keep the house as warm as you comfortably can in summer and as cool as you can in winter.
Go ahead and do these immediately! These steps will allow you to save money and help the planet in energy consumption.

The smart and funny answer would be not to turn on anything that uses electricity… but that isn't too helpful and reasonable, is it? If you have a bad habit of leaving the lights on, like I do, then using LED bulbs helps quite a bit. I have changed out all the lights in my home to LEDs and avoid using anything that is fluorescent because of the higher energy usage.
I let my computer go into sleep mode when I am not using it; I keep my thermostat in the winter set at the lowest temperature I can tolerate without suffering. If I am still cold, I put on more clothes or occasionally use a small heater in the room I am in to get more comfortable. In summer, I set the temperature as high as I can comfortably stand it, and if I get too warm, I can use an air conditioner, but rarely.
A big amount of water and energy is used when you do the washing. So try to do it not so often.
If you combine all these things together, you can probably cut your bill and reduce energy consumption. You will spend some money upfront, but LED lights are so nice! They last a long time and use so little electricity… I love mine!
I hope this answer will help.
