What do we use to talk about possession?

  1. We use 's after a singular noun:

Bob's car, my friend's car, the boy [ ] car.

  1. We use 's or ' after a singular noun ending in -s:

  1. We use ' after a regular plural noun (ending in -s):

  1. We use 's after an irregular plural noun:

  1. We use of (not 's) for things and places:

the capital of Russia, the door [ ] the classroom.

  1. To ask about possession, we use whose:

Whose car is this? — It's Mary's.
