Big Changes

Bob returned to his hometown of Ligonier after being
away in Hong Kong for eleven years. So many things had changed around there.
When he left Ligonier, there was a small pond on the right to the central
street. They filled in that pond and built a large shopping mall instead. A new
post office was also built just across his old school.
There was a baseball stadium on the outskirts of
Ligonier which looked completely different. They had added a new stand where
probably a few thousand people could sit. Bob
immediately decided to buy a ticket for the next football game.
The biggest changes had also happened to the downtown
area. They pedestrianised the centre
and you couldn’t drive there anymore. A European-style fountain had been built
and some beautiful benches had been added along with a grassy area and a new
street café where everyone could spend a night after work.
But his old street looked just the same as it used to.
His house looked neat and welcoming. The neighbours
told him there was a new public library in the next street where used to be a
great park. They had cut down all the trees to built
it. The library had a large green area around but it wasn’t the same as when
the park was there.
Ligonier had changed so much that Bob couldn’t
recognize it at first. It took him several days to walk around and examine all
the new sights.
