A) Ancient Greeks believed that dance was a natural reaction to music. Dance moves can be carefully chosen or improvised, but either way they express emotions and have symbolic meaning. Dance as a form of art evolved into hundreds of different types: ballet, folk dance, contemporary, ballroom, hip hop, etc. People of all ages take up dancing. It is a great way to stay fit and healthy.
B) Cinema is more than 120 years old. We are quite used to it by now — watching films is great fun. The question is — is it only entertainment or is it a form of art? It turns out that there are splits over this matter. However, there’s no denying that it uses the same concepts as other arts — image, composition, framing, etc. Cinema expresses ideas and tells incredible stories.
C) Hundreds of thousands of people take up music as their hobby. Playing a musical instrument is one of the best ways to express yourself. Some people avoid trying music because they consider music theory too difficult. However, you don’t have to study at music school in order to play well. Lots of famous musicians are self-taught — it’s just a matter of time and effort!
D) A lot of people consider visiting art museums dull and boring. Teenagers often think it’s a waste of time. What if it’s not true? A lot of modern museums are interactive and fun. They offer all sorts of activities for people of all ages. Participating in museum events such as quizzes, festivals and presentations help broaden the mind and become a smart person.
E) No wonder art attracts people of all ages. A famous scientist Richard Feynman took up painting in his forties. What started as a joke became one of his favourite hobbies and even more — he gained a reputation of a decent artist and sold a lot of his works.
Some great artists started at a very young age, for example, Arkhip Kuindzhi began drawing at 10. Later he became one of the greatest artists of the XIX century.
