You are going to find cultures different from your own when you travel to different countries. Other cultures and ways of life might seem strange at first. But they can

be fascinating if you look at them with an open mind.

After arriving in the country, the most important thing is to keep your

eyes open. First of all, observe how people behave when they meet each other.

Moreover, you can watch local TV. Even if you do not understand a word, you

will still learn something. In many countries you can buy a local newspaper in

order to see what you can understand. Most languages contain international

words, so you will probably be able to find something out.

Go exploring in local areas unless they are dangerous: do not just stick to

the tourist areas. You can go shopping in local shops where you are going to

meet local people and eat out in local restaurants. Nevertheless, first check

that the food is safe.

Anyway, when in another country, respect people’s

culture and its differences from yours.
