In some parts of Italy, people celebrate birthdays by having a tombola game. This is similar to bingo, and involves drawing numbers and matching them to pre-printed cards.

In Japan, people often give gifts of money for birthdays. This is known as otoshidama. The money is usually given in a small envelope called pochibukuro and is considered a sign of good luck and prosperity.
