A. Remember some very important rules if go out in frosty weather or find yourself in a very cold place. You should put on your clothes but it must not keep you from moving freely. Be sure to choose right shoes and hats. Several layers of clothes will keep you warm because there will be more air between them. Natural materials are better than synthetic ones. Keep moving all the time – don’t stand in one place. And the last, but not least – breathe with your nose.

B. You come up to your car on a frosty morning and the engine won’t start. It is not a rare occasion. In cold weather car batteries produce less electricity because the chemical reaction slows down at lower temperatures. It is possible to get the engine going. One of the most effective ways is to take the battery out of the car and leave it in your flat for some time. When you put it back, don’t forget to check the connection cables. They must be tightened.

C. Empty batteries may cause harm to the environment. That’s why we shouldn’t throw them out as usual litter. Such negative effects as soil, water and air pollution may occur because of the chemicals from the batteries. There are a number of special places where you can dispose of batteries safely. You may find special bins in supermarkets. The batteries are specially recycled and the substances which they contain are used in other kinds of production.
