One Friday evening while I was walking home from school, I saw a boy from my class struggling to 1) ____ a huge pile of books. I didn't know much about him, just that his name was James. He wore quite unfashionable clothes and didn't seem to have any friends. I knew that he lived near me, and I could see that he needed some help, but I just shrugged my 2) ______ and walked on.
Suddenly, a group of kids ran past him, pushing him out of the way. He 3) ____ over, and his books flew out of his arms and onto the ground. He looked up, and I saw a terrible sadness in his eyes.
