When she was a child, her dream was to be a writer. When she was six, she wrote her first book about a rabbit. She was a clever student at school, and her favourite school subjects were English and foreign languages. After university, she worked as a secretary and then went to Portugal to teach English. She was very busy in the afternoon and in the evening, so she had some free time in the morning to write her books. Joanna came back to Britain and lived in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1990, she had an idea about her new book about a young magician – Harry Potter. Her first book was a great success. Now there are seven Harry Potter books.
