Christmas can mean different things to different people. For many people it means eating a lot, spending time with a family, or visiting relatives and friends. For children, it often means presents, presents, and more presents! In the year 440, the Christian church decided that Christ's birth should be celebrated on the 25th of December. Green plants are still used to decorate many British homes in December. At Christmas, many British decorate Christmas trees with shiny balls and flashing lights! Traditionally, the British send Christmas cards to their friends, families, colleagues, classmates, and neighbours in the weeks leading up to the 25th of December.
