On 18th June 1815, the French army, led Napoleon, started of the most famous battles in history. Their opponents, the British and their allies, joined together some time earlier to defeat the powerful emperor. Napoleon was confident that he would win the battle , without anyone's help. He believed he was leading strongest army in Europe.

The French were the first to strike. They launched a powerful attack on the allied front line; however, the British military responded cannon fire and managed to maintain their ground. As the day progressed, neither side seemed to have the advantage. But then, more solders arrived to join the allied forces. Greatly outnumbered, the French army fell. Napoleon had finally defeated.

The victory made the leader of the allied forces, the Duke of Wellington, a hero throughout Europe. In fact, he was popular that he later became the Prime Minister of Britain. As for Napoleon, he was sent to the distant island of St. Helena he spent the rest of his days.
