I have always dreamt of winning a half marathon. I love jogging and I always run alone for two reasons: nothing really distracts me, and my best friend July hates running. Well, actually she hates doing sports at all.
At university she found it exhausting to run around the sports field. I remember she was always one of the last students to cross the finish line. Sometimes she skipped P.E. lessons because she thought it was useless for her future career. She always found a lot of other "5-minute" hobbies to do instead of running with her best friend even one kilometre a week! Every time I invited her to run there was something more worthy for July. "Reading an article about 100 sorts of chocolate! That's what I'm definitely doing today!" "Are you going to jog today? That's a pity I'm busy today with doing crafts!" she said.
Last year I was a participant of a 21K running event. I was training hard and I was both excited and nervous. Guess how surprised I was when July came up to me in a sports uniform! July! My best friend July who hated running! I was astonished! She was running nearby for around 10 minutes and then she wished me good luck and got out of the race.
It wasn't me who came first to the finish line. But I wasn't even sad about that, because I knew I could call myself a really happy person because of my best friend July who hated jogging all her life and came to support me.
