There is a belief in East Asia that people [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H] are connected with an invisible red string. The Chinese god Yue Xia Lao [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H] is in charge of matchmaking. In this book, there are records of all the lovers in the world who are destined for each other since their birth. In China, the thread is said to be tied to the soulmates' feet, in Korea — to the little fingers. The red colour is the symbol of special joy, luck and happiness in many Asian countries. This mysterious red string can be tangled and stretched, which means it will take the lovers time and efforts to meet each other. Nevertheless, [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H], the thread of fate can't be broken.

There are some legends about this inseparable connection. One of them tells us the story of a young man called Wei Gu [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H] that a little poor girl on the market was to become his future wife. He hired an assassin to kill the girl so that he could marry another one. Several years passed and the man married a beautiful noblewoman, who always wore a mysterious band on her forehead. When Wei Gu asked his wife [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H], she told him her story.

She lost her parents in early childhood and had to spend some time with her poor nanny working on the market. Back then, she was attacked by a man with a knife [A|B|C|D|E|F|G|H]. Some time had passed before she was adopted by her noble uncle and became a rich bride.

When the woman finished her story, Wei Gu burst into tears. He understood that he was guilty for his wife's having that scar. He told her the truth and apologised for having fought against their fate.
