More than 8 billion people are living on our planet. All of them belong to different races, religions and beliefs. In each nation we can find at least one stereotype. But why do we need stereotypes? And do they really work?
Don't forget that stereotypes can be positive or negative. We need them to focus on special national features, to generalise people in a particular social group.
For example, when we speak about French men, we imagine a galant man who can easily fall in love. they should be very friendly and open. But according to the scientific observation, we just like specific words and the pronunciation of French language but French people usually keep distance in dialogues and aren't ready to flirt with you. They aren't open and easy-going people.
But sometimes stereotypes don't lie. Italians prove it. They use too many gestures in dialogues, can't focus on the topic and even can seem aggressive in an active conversation.
Few people deny that we have a fixed mental image of national behaviour. Some of the humans in the nation express them, some of them not. Also, it's a typical mistake to judge people according to dramatically-opposed stereotyping experience. Let's have a brief test. Would you describe Germans as impolite, unpunctual, indirect, unreliable nations if some say these words to you? Probably, you will easily agree with it.
Sometimes we object to construct stereotypes according to our experience. If once we met a rude Korean person, we would think that all of them behave themselves this way. But it's not good to apply your negative opinion to each Korean in the future. Just remember that all of us are different and have black and white days.
