When I was a child, my parents loved listening to the music band named Camel. I remember that yellow coloured vinyl album with camel caravan on it. I don't know why the group has this title, but I was very interested in these animals.
Camels are very adapted to life in hot and dry places. Even though they belong to the group of even-toed mammals, their hooves look more like nails and cover their toes only partly. They have long lashes which protect their eyes from sand, and their feet are cushioned, which helps not to sink in the sand. It's amazing! What about breathing? Their nostrils are unique: they can stay closed during sand storms. Camels can go long distances without water or food for weeks. All camels have humps.
