After reading about volunteering abroad, you've probably asked yourself: "What can I do right now to contribute to the well-being of society?" Here are some tips for those who aren't in touch with any volunteer organisations but are eager to do something big and helpful.
There's no doubt that you have some belongings at home that nobody has used for a while. They can be child's clothes or toys, old books, or CDs (we all listen to Spotify now, aren't we)? So, instead of collecting stuff that can be just another piece of rubbish for you, try to donate them to charity organisations. You might also try to ask your neighbours for such things and deliver them to your local NGO helping the homeless or other people in need.
It's not a secret that the same things and tasks may be much more difficult to perform for someone while for you they're a piece of cake. Thus, you may try making your knowledge and skills serve for the better. For example, if you are really brilliant at English, find your classmate or a younger student who struggles to understand the irregular verbs and suggest studying together. This may be profitable for both of you.
For the next idea, you might need to ask your friends or classmates for help. Take plastic bags, gloves, and everything you need to have a good time. Choose an area in your town that is extremely polluted with waste — for example, a part of a forest where people usually have picnics and leave rubbish after themselves. Go there for a day, communicate, listen to music, but don't forget to collect all the litter you see on your way in the bags. You will both spend time outside and help nature to clean.
