What can you see when you visit the White House in Washington, D.C.? First of all, the building is grand and extremely impressive. There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels in the residence. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators. It consists of the main building (the oldest one, which you can easily recognise by large central porches and tall columns) and two wings that were built later.

The first family of the USA lives on the second floor of the main building. They normally decorate their living space when they move into the White House. On the third floor, there are rooms for the President's guests, and on the first floor, there are large rooms where the President gives official dinners, teas, and has receptions.

The West Wing is the place where government work is realised. The President works in the Oval Office, which is connected to the Cabinet Room. The president usually addresses the people from his office or from the Rose Garden, which is right next to the West Wing. There are three more floors that contain offices for the Vice President, the White House chief of staff, the counsellor to the President, the senior advisor to the President, the White House press secretary, etc.
