A birthday in England.

Hello, my name is Kostya. I am 12 years old. I live in Moscow. Last summer I came to England: I visited my cousin Kevin who lives in London. He had a birthday, so I bought him a nice present, a toy sports car for his collection. His birthday was on 15 June. My mum and I came there two days before his birthday and then stayed for two more weeks.

There is a tradition in England to give birthday cards. You can also send them by post, email or via social media. I had time to make a birthday card too. This is what I wrote in Kevin's birthday card:

Happy birthday to you, Kevin.

This year Kevin got birthday cards from our family in Russia and from his friends in England. When his classmates came to the party, Kevin also got his presents. Kevin got a skateboard, some computer games, and a new phone. He was happy. I gave him our present and a birthday card too, and said: ‘Happy birthday, Kevin! Wish you all the best!’. He really liked the card and the sports car.

After that they brought his cake with twelve candles. In England people blow out candles on their birthday cakes, like in Russia. They also sing the 'Happy birthday to you' song. We had fun and ate some cake. It was delicious. I was really happy to see my cousin on his birthday.

The next day we visited some interesting places in London, like the London Eye, Big Ben and Trafalgar square. They were fantastic! And the River Thames is just like the Moscow River in Moscow. It is in the centre of London and has many bridges. I spent a lot of time together with my cousin Kevin. I loved my trip to London. I hope some day I can go there again.
