Alexander Blok was a famous Russian writer who was born in 1880. He is best known for his poetry, which talks about love, sadness, and the mystical connection between man and the universe. Blok belonged to the symbolist movement, which used symbols and abstract ideas to depict deep feelings and thoughts.

One of his most famous poems is "The Twelve", written in 1918 during the Russian Revolution. The plot follows twelve Red Guards marching through Petrograd and mixes real events with surreal and prophetic elements. This unique style shows Blok's skill as a poet.

Another famous poem, which many Russians know by heart, is "The Night, a Street, a Lamp, a Pharmacy". It captures the bleakness and monotony of life. The poem describes a night scene with a street, a lamp, and a pharmacy, creating a vivid image of despair and the endless cycle of life.

Blok also wrote essays and critical works in which he addressed cultural and political issues of his time. Despite his early death in 1921 at the age of 40, Blok's works remain popular and are considered bestsellers in Russia and around the world.
