Read the teenagers' opinions about their appearance and answer the question below.
Melanie, 14
I can't say that I've got low self-esteem. Of course, I don't like some things about my face and my body. For example, I'd like to have smaller cheeks and curlier hair. Sometimes I don't even want to look at myself in the mirror.
But in general, I try to focus more on the things I like about myself. I'm quite tall and fit, and I look stunning in fancy dresses. I'm also smart and witty, which is actually much more important. It may be hard to do, but I really try to love myself!
Dennis, 15
I'm not really obsessed with things like appearance, self-esteem, and so on. I'm more focused on self-development and studies. I'm working on becoming more muscular to be stronger and have more energy in the future.
I guess that social media don't affect the way I think of my body image. Instead of comparing yourself to the others, you'd better do something more important: join a gym, for example.
Kate, 14
Sometimes I think that I hate totally everything about myself — this face, these legs and arms — ugh! People usually tell me to focus more on the things I like about myself, but it is not the case. I don't like anything!
So I've started visiting our school psychologist recently, and she showed me some useful exercises for improving my self-esteem. I hope to stop comparing myself to other people and start loving my face and body without any doubt.
