Read the rules and choose the correct grammatical forms of the adjectives
We add the ending -er/-est to one-syllable (e.g. large) or two-syllable adjectives having -y (e.g. happy).
If a one-syllable adjective ends in -e, we add -r/-st: large— larger— the largest.
If a one-syllable adjective ends in a consonant + one vowel + one consonant, we double the last consonant and add -er/-est: big— bigger — the biggest.
If a two-syllable adjective ends in a consonant + -y, we change it into -i and add -er/-est: happy— happier — the happiest.
