• This year, we have the first school day on Wednesday.

Adverbial modifiers of frequency:

• John sometimes plays football.
• Usually, I don't wake up at 6 a.m.
• I am not always busy on Tuesday evenings.
• On Tuesday evenings, I am almost never at home.

Adverbial modifiers of place:

• John plays football at the stadium.
• Here in Australia I take photos of kangaroos.

Adverbial modifiers of purpose/cause:

• I went to a bookshop to buy some textbooks.
• They thought he was British because of his good English.

Adverbial modifiers of manner:

• John plays football well.
• John carefully chooses his words before speaking.
