Going to the cinema has been a popular form of entertainment since the 1890s. Traditionally, cinemas seat people in rows of chairs inside a dark room. Nowadays, however, there are numerous cinemas around the world that provide a much more interesting experience.
1. Pula Arena in Croatia. It is one of the six largest surviving Roman arenas in the world. It once occupied the locals with violent gladiator battles, but now entertains them with films. Every year, a European film competition called the Pula Film Festival takes place here.
2. Cinema “Lake”. It is an outdoor cinema in Kosovo. It is located at a lake on a hill in a city park. As well as lakeside chairs, there are rubber boats, so that the audience can watch the films while rowing around the lake. Part of the annual International Documentary and Short Film Festival happens here.
3. The Hot Tub. This cinema is on a rooftop in London, England. The audience sit in hot tubs while watching classic films. It is possible to book a whole tub for a group of six, or to buy individual tickets to share a tub with others. Every tub has waiter service to supply food and drinks. Afterwards, there is a party and music.
4. The Sci-Fi Dine-In Cinema Restaurant. It is located at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, the USA. The cinema looks like a 1950s drive-in cinema. Visitors watch classic clips from 1950s and 1960s films while eating typical American food at car-shaped tables.
5. The Orange Cinema in China. It is an exclusive club for members only. It offers a luxurious setting in which guests can enjoy fine drinks, private dining, and comfortable blankets and pillows. The use of advanced projectors results in very high visual and sound quality.
