Education in the USA

In the USA, children start elementary school when they are five or six years old. It lasts six years. The first year at elementary school is called kindergarten. Schooling is compulsory in the USA until the students are 16 or 18 years old, which depends on the state. People don't have to pay tuition fees at schools in the USA.

After elementary school, youngsters attend secondary school, which lasts three years. The curriculum there includes such subjects as English, Maths, Biology, Physical Education, History and some others. Besides, the schools offer elective subjects which students can choose to attend.

To celebrate finishing school, students have a prom where they can choose the queen and the king of the evening.
