Gaokao is the name of state exams in China. Traditionally, they are held in all Chinese schools on the same day and at the same time and last for two days.
Pupils have 2.5 hours to answer the questions on literature and the Chinese language on the first day in the morning. In the afternoon, they have exams in foreign languages and mathematics. On the second day, students take exams on one more compulsory subject and one of the optional subjects, which depends on the university they want to enter. The exams are really strict. Pupils are allowed to take only the most necessary things with them: a pen, a pencil, a rubber, a ruler and a compass. Everything else is forbidden. Even a bottle of water is not permitted.Cheating is strictly forbidden. There are detectors, cameras, and jammers of mobile signals in the examination rooms. Pupils who use cheat sheets and other similar tricks will get severe punishment. It's also impossible to get the right answers beforehand with the help of relatives or friends. The Chinese government even gives money from the budget to keep all examination tickets in secret. As there is almost no chance to retake the exam, Chinese pupils don't leave the revision to the last moment and revise regularly. What about exams in your country? Are they strict? Do you revise regularly?
