The Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which is celebrated in Russia on July 8, is connected with the lives of saints Peter and Fevronia, who lived in the 13th century. They are the symbols of family and marriage.

During their lifetimes, Peter and Fevronia became examples of marital fidelity, mutual love, and family happiness. According to the legend, they died on the same day, June 25 (July 8 according to the new calendar) in 1228. People buried them in different places, but the next morning the bodies of Peter and Fevronia were together in one coffin. It was decided that it was a miracle and that they were saints. Peter and Fevronia were canonised in 1547.
