Day of the Dead is very popular in countries of South America. What is this festival like?

People come together to pray for their dead family members and ask them to return to Earth for one night. This festival may seem strange and scary, but in fact it's a colourful and happy celebration.

People decorate their houses with flowers, candles, candy skulls, and lots of different food. They dress up like skeletons and have street parades in cities and villages.

People also cook special food: little breads with toys hidden in them called pan de los muertos(bread of the dead). They usually have a shape of skulls or crossbones.
