Read 4 people’s opinions about travelling back in time and choose the TRUE options.
Do you wish you could go back in time?
James:
Definitely. A visit to the past could be wished for two reasons. First, to relive the some memories. Second, to change something that you wish had not happened in the past.
As for me, I’d want to go back in time to experiment and discover which of the theories holds/hold good in reality.
Jane:
Yes! In recent years I have been through physical and emotional trauma that has turned me into a frightened shell of a person. I have not been able to find a good job because I have severe panic attacks over nothing. I often have to simply walk out with no explanation before I cry or throw up. It is humiliating and devastating.
Many terrible things have happened that brought me here, but I wish I could travel back in time simply to tell the people who I loved, who all passed away suddenly in at least five unrelated instances, that I loved them. I feel some of my trauma comes from guilt over not being able to give these people love or closure before their passing.
Oliver:
To have regrets is part of being human. To have time travel ability would definitely alleviate some of those regrets but they would create more regrets.
Nick:
I don’t wish this travel because this would mean that nothing is final, and all events could be erased. Curiosity may occasionally make me wish for a peek into human progress into the future, but after reflection the uncertainty of events is preferable, in order that I and everyone else take responsibility for the part we play in determining the future and think about the consequences of our behaviour. No, everything is best the way it is operating now without time travel.
